MantisBT allows unauthorized users to upload attachments to restricted issues via REST API
Mantis Bug Tracker (MantisBT) is an open source issue tracker. Versions 2.28.1 and prior allow an authenticated user to upload attachments to private Issues they are not authorized to access. This issue has been fixed in version 2.28.2.
MantisBT authorization bypass allows continued access to self-uploaded attachments on private issues
Mantis Bug Tracker (MantisBT) is an open source issue tracker. Versions 2.28.1 and prior permit a user to list and download their own attachments from an Issue created by another user even after it becomes private, bypassing read access revocation. The loss of confidentiality caused by this vulnerability is minimal, considering that only attachments previously uploaded by the user themselves remain accessible. This issue has been fixed in version 2.82.2.
MantisBT has an authorization bypass via private issue monitoring
Mantis Bug Tracker (MantisBT) is an open source issue tracker. Versions 2.28.1 and prior are vulnerable to Authorization Bypass through the private issue monitoring feature . Using a crafted POST request to bug_monitor_add.php, a user with project-level access can add themselves as a monitor for a private issue they do not have access to. Despite displaying an Access Denied error, the application accepts the request and creates a monitor relationship for the private issue. Direct access to the private issue remains blocked, but the user will receive email notifications for updates, leading to disclosure of the private issue's metadata and con
MantisBT has Stored HTML Injection/XSS via Clone Issue Form
Mantis Bug Tracker (MantisBT) is an open source issue tracker. Versions 2.28.1 and prior contain a Stored XSS vulnerability. When cloning an issue originating from a Project other than the current one, the clone form (bug_report_page.php) prepends the source Project name before the category selector without proper escaping, allowing an attacker able to to inject HTML if they can set the Project's name (which typically requires manager or administrator access level). This issue has been resolved in version 2.28.2.
MantisBT: Privilege Escalation from Manager to Administrator
Mantis Bug Tracker (MantisBT) is an open source issue tracker. Versions 2.28.1 and prior have a Privilege Escalation vulnerability where insufficient access control checks in ProjectUsersAddCommand (manage_proj_user_add.php) allow users having manage_project_threshold access level (manager by default) to grant project-level administrator access to any user (including themselves) in any Project they have manager rights in. The normal project-user add form restricts the selectable access levels to the actor's own project role or below. However, the backend handler still accepts a forged higher access_level value and writes it. The consequences
MantisBT SOAP API has an authentication bypass vulnerability on MySQL
Mantis Bug Tracker (MantisBT) is an open source issue tracker. Versions prior to 2.28.1 running on MySQL family databases are affected by an authentication bypass vulnerability in the SOAP API, as a result of an improper type checking on the password parameter. Other database backends are not affected, as they do not perform implicit type conversion from string to integer. Using a crafted SOAP envelope, an attacker knowing the victim's username is able to login to the SOAP API with their account without knowledge of the actual password, and execute any API function they have access to. Version 2.28.1 contains a patch. Disabling the SOAP API s
MantisBT unauthorized disclosure of private project column configuration
Mantis Bug Tracker (MantisBT) is an open source issue tracker. In versions 2.27.1 and below, due to insufficient access-level checks, any non-admin user with access to manage_config_columns_page.php can use the Copy From action to retrieve the columns configuration from a private project they have no access to. This issue is fixed in version 2.27.2.
MantisBT: Authentication bypass for some passwords due to PHP type juggling
Mantis Bug Tracker (MantisBT) is an open source issue tracker. In versions 2.27.1 and below, when a user edits their profile to change their e-mail address, the system saves it without validating that it actually belongs to the user. This could result in storing an invalid email address, preventing the user from receiving system notifications. Notifications sent to another person's email address could lead to information disclosure. This issue is fixed in version 2.27.2.
MantisBT: Authentication bypass for some passwords due to PHP type juggling
Mantis Bug Tracker (MantisBT) is an open source issue tracker. Due to incorrect use of loose (==) instead of strict (===) comparison in the authentication code in versions 2.27.1 and below.PHP type juggling will cause certain MD5 hashes matching scientific notation to be interpreted as numbers. Instances using the MD5 login method allow an attacker who knows the victim's username and has access to an account with a password hash that evaluates to zero to log in without knowing the victim's actual password, by using any other password with a hash that also evaluates to zero This issue is fixed in version 2.27.2.
MantisBT is Vulnerable to Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack via Excessive Note Length
Mantis Bug Tracker (MantisBT) is an open source issue tracker. Versions 2.27.1 and below allow attackers to permanently corrupt issue activity logs by submitting extremely long notes (tested with 4,788,761 characters) due to a lack of server-side validation of note length. Once such a note is added, the activity stream UI fails to render; therefore, new notes cannot be displayed, effectively breaking all future collaboration on the issue. This issue is fixed in version 2.27.2.
MantisBT vulnerable to information disclosure with user profiles
Mantis Bug Tracker (MantisBT) is an open source issue tracker. Using a crafted POST request, an unprivileged, registered user is able to retrieve information about other users' personal system profiles. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.26.4.
MantisBT (Mantis Bug Tracker) is an open source issue tracker. Improper escaping of a custom field's name allows an attacker to inject HTML and, if CSP settings permit, achieve execution of arbitrary JavaScript when resolving or closing issues (`bug_change_status_page.php`) belonging to a project linking said custom field, viewing issues (`view_all_bug_page.php`) when the custom field is displayed as a column, or printing issues (`print_all_bug_page.php`) when the custom field is displayed as a column. Version 2.26.2 contains a patch for the issue. As a workaround, ensure Custom Field Names do not contain HTML tags.
MantisBT Vulnerable to Exposure of Sensitive Information to an Unauthorized Actor
MantisBT (Mantis Bug Tracker) is an open source issue tracker. If an issue references a note that belongs to another issue that the user doesn't have access to, then it gets hyperlinked. Clicking on the link gives an access denied error as expected, yet some information remains available via the link, link label, and tooltip. This can result in disclosure of the existence of the note, the note author name, the note creation timestamp, and the issue id the note belongs to. Version 2.26.2 contains a patch for the issue. No known workarounds are available.
MantisBT user account takeover in the signup/reset password process
MantisBT (Mantis Bug Tracker) is an open source issue tracker. Insufficient access control in the registration and password reset process allows an attacker to reset another user's password and takeover their account, if the victim has an incomplete request pending. The exploit is only possible while the verification token is valid, i.e for 5 minutes after the confirmation URL sent by e-mail has been opened, and the user did not complete the process by updating their password. A brute-force attack calling account_update.php with increasing user IDs is possible. A successful takeover would grant the attacker full access to the compromised acco
