In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: udf: refactor inode_bmap() to handle error Refactor inode_bmap() to handle error since udf_next_aext() can return error now. On situations like ftruncate, udf_extend_file() can now detect errors and bail out early without resorting to checking for particular offsets and assuming internal behavior of these functions.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: propagate directory read errors from nilfs_find_entry() Syzbot reported that a task hang occurs in vcs_open() during a fuzzing test for nilfs2. The root cause of this problem is that in nilfs_find_entry(), which searches for directory entries, ignores errors when loading a directory page/folio via nilfs_get_folio() fails. If the filesystem images is corrupted, and the i_size of the directory inode is large, and the directory page/folio is successfully read but fails the sanity check, for example when it is zero-filled, nilfs_check_folio() may continue to spit out
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/swapfile: skip HugeTLB pages for unuse_vma I got a bad pud error and lost a 1GB HugeTLB when calling swapoff. The problem can be reproduced by the following steps: 1. Allocate an anonymous 1GB HugeTLB and some other anonymous memory. 2. Swapout the above anonymous memory. 3. run swapoff and we will get a bad pud error in kernel message: mm/pgtable-generic.c:42: bad pud 00000000743d215d(84000001400000e7) We can tell that pud_clear_bad is called by pud_none_or_clear_bad in unuse_pud_range() by ftrace. And therefore the HugeTLB pages will never be freed because we
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: posix-clock: Fix missing timespec64 check in pc_clock_settime() As Andrew pointed out, it will make sense that the PTP core checked timespec64 struct's tv_sec and tv_nsec range before calling ptp->info->settime64(). As the man manual of clock_settime() said, if tp.tv_sec is negative or tp.tv_nsec is outside the range [0..999,999,999], it should return EINVAL, which include dynamic clocks which handles PTP clock, and the condition is consistent with timespec64_valid(). As Thomas suggested, timespec64_valid() only check the timespec is valid, but not ensure that the time is
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fbdev: sisfb: Fix strbuf array overflow The values of the variables xres and yres are placed in strbuf. These variables are obtained from strbuf1. The strbuf1 array contains digit characters and a space if the array contains non-digit characters. Then, when executing sprintf(strbuf, "%ux%ux8", xres, yres); more than 16 bytes will be written to strbuf. It is suggested to increase the size of the strbuf array to 24. Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ceph: remove the incorrect Fw reference check when dirtying pages When doing the direct-io reads it will also try to mark pages dirty, but for the read path it won't hold the Fw caps and there is case will it get the Fw reference.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: systemport: fix potential memory leak in bcm_sysport_xmit() The bcm_sysport_xmit() returns NETDEV_TX_OK without freeing skb in case of dma_map_single() fails, add dev_kfree_skb() to fix it.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: be2net: fix potential memory leak in be_xmit() The be_xmit() returns NETDEV_TX_OK without freeing skb in case of be_xmit_enqueue() fails, add dev_kfree_skb_any() to fix it.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tcp/dccp: Don't use timer_pending() in reqsk_queue_unlink(). Martin KaFai Lau reported use-after-free [0] in reqsk_timer_handler(). """ We are seeing a use-after-free from a bpf prog attached to trace_tcp_retransmit_synack. The program passes the req->sk to the bpf_sk_storage_get_tracing kernel helper which does check for null before using it. """ The commit 83fccfc3940c ("inet: fix potential deadlock in reqsk_queue_unlink()") added timer_pending() in reqsk_queue_unlink() not to call del_timer_sync() from reqsk_timer_handler(), but it introduced a small race w
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: bnep: fix wild-memory-access in proto_unregister There's issue as follows: KASAN: maybe wild-memory-access in range [0xdead...108-0xdead...10f] CPU: 3 UID: 0 PID: 2805 Comm: rmmod Tainted: G W RIP: 0010:proto_unregister+0xee/0x400 Call Trace: <TASK> __do_sys_delete_module+0x318/0x580 do_syscall_64+0xc1/0x1d0 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x77/0x7f As bnep_init() ignore bnep_sock_init()'s return value, and bnep_sock_init() will cleanup all resource. Then when remove bnep module will call bnep_sock_cleanup() to cleanup sock's resource.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: udf: fix uninit-value use in udf_get_fileshortad Check for overflow when computing alen in udf_current_aext to mitigate later uninit-value use in udf_get_fileshortad KMSAN bug[1]. After applying the patch reproducer did not trigger any issue[2]. [1] https://syzkaller.appspot.com/bug?extid=8901c4560b7ab5c2f9df [2] https://syzkaller.appspot.com/x/log.txt?x=10242227980000
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfrm: validate new SA's prefixlen using SA family when sel.family is unset This expands the validation introduced in commit 07bf7908950a ("xfrm: Validate address prefix lengths in the xfrm selector.") syzbot created an SA with usersa.sel.family = AF_UNSPEC usersa.sel.prefixlen_s = 128 usersa.family = AF_INET Because of the AF_UNSPEC selector, verify_newsa_info doesn't put limits on prefixlen_{s,d}. But then copy_from_user_state sets x->sel.family to usersa.family (AF_INET). Do the same conversion in verify_newsa_info before validating prefixlen_{s,d}, since th

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd: Guard against bad data for ATIF ACPI method If a BIOS provides bad data in response to an ATIF method call this causes a NULL pointer dereference in the caller. ``` ? show_regs (arch/x86/kernel/dumpstack.c:478 (discriminator 1)) ? __die (arch/x86/kernel/dumpstack.c:423 arch/x86/kernel/dumpstack.c:434) ? page_fault_oops (arch/x86/mm/fault.c:544 (discriminator 2) arch/x86/mm/fault.c:705 (discriminator 2)) ? do_user_addr_fault (arch/x86/mm/fault.c:440 (discriminator 1) arch/x86/mm/fault.c:1232 (discriminator 1)) ? acpi_ut_update_object_reference (drivers/acpi/acpica/
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix kernel bug due to missing clearing of buffer delay flag Syzbot reported that after nilfs2 reads a corrupted file system image and degrades to read-only, the BUG_ON check for the buffer delay flag in submit_bh_wbc() may fail, causing a kernel bug. This is because the buffer delay flag is not cleared when clearing the buffer state flags to discard a page/folio or a buffer head. So, fix this. This became necessary when the use of nilfs2's own page clear routine was expanded. This state inconsistency does not occur if the buffer is written normally by log writing
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: nSVM: Ignore nCR3[4:0] when loading PDPTEs from memory Ignore nCR3[4:0] when loading PDPTEs from memory for nested SVM, as bits 4:0 of CR3 are ignored when PAE paging is used, and thus VMRUN doesn't enforce 32-byte alignment of nCR3. In the absolute worst case scenario, failure to ignore bits 4:0 can result in an out-of-bounds read, e.g. if the target page is at the end of a memslot, and the VMM isn't using guard pages. Per the APM: The CR3 register points to the base address of the page-directory-pointer table. The page-directory-pointer table is aligned on a 3
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nfsd: fix race between laundromat and free_stateid There is a race between laundromat handling of revoked delegations and a client sending free_stateid operation. Laundromat thread finds that delegation has expired and needs to be revoked so it marks the delegation stid revoked and it puts it on a reaper list but then it unlock the state lock and the actual delegation revocation happens without the lock. Once the stid is marked revoked a racing free_stateid processing thread does the following (1) it calls list_del_init() which removes it from the reaper list and (2) frees
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/mad: Improve handling of timed out WRs of mad agent Current timeout handler of mad agent acquires/releases mad_agent_priv lock for every timed out WRs. This causes heavy locking contention when higher no. of WRs are to be handled inside timeout handler. This leads to softlockup with below trace in some use cases where rdma-cm path is used to establish connection between peer nodes Trace: ----- BUG: soft lockup - CPU#4 stuck for 26s! In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: inet: inet_defrag: prevent sk release while still in use ip_local_out() and other functions can pass skb->sk as function argument. If the skb is a fragment and reassembly happens before such function call returns, the sk must not be released. This affects skb fragments reassembled via netfilter or similar modules, e.g. openvswitch or ct_act.c, when run as part of tx pipeline. Eric Dumazet made an initial analysis of this bug. Quoting Eric: Calling ip_defrag() in output path is also implying skb_orphan(), which is buggy because output path relies on sk not disappearing. A rele
