Mesop: Unauthenticated ANSI Escape Sequence Injection in CSP Reporting Endpoint
Mesop is a Python-based UI framework that allows users to build web applications. Prior to 1.3.4, the unauthenticated /__csp__ endpoint passes attacker-controlled document-uri, blocked-uri, and violated-directive values to the csp_report handler in mesop/server/static_file_serving.py, which prints them to standard output without neutralizing terminal control sequences. When an operator views the resulting logs in an ANSI-capable terminal, injected ANSI or VT100 sequences can clear or reposition the display, hide text, or present forged messages, reducing the integrity of monitoring and incident-response output. This issue is fixed in version
Mesop: Unbounded Thread Creation in WebSocket Handler Leads to Denial of Service
Mesop is a Python-based UI framework that allows users to build web applications. From version 1.2.3 to before version 1.2.5, an uncontrolled resource consumption vulnerability exists in the WebSocket implementation of the Mesop framework. An unauthenticated attacker can send a rapid succession of WebSocket messages, forcing the server to spawn an unbounded number of operating system threads. This leads to thread exhaustion and Out of Memory (OOM) errors, causing a complete Denial of Service (DoS) for any application built on the framework. This issue has been patched in version 1.2.5.
Mesop Affected by Unauthenticated Remote Code Execution via Test Suite Route /exec-py
Mesop is a Python-based UI framework that allows users to build web applications. In versions 1.2.2 and below, an explicit web endpoint inside the ai/ testing module infrastructure directly ingests untrusted Python code strings unconditionally without authentication measures, yielding standard Unrestricted Remote Code Execution. Any individual capable of routing HTTP logic to this server block will gain explicit host-machine command rights. The AI codebase package includes a lightweight debugging Flask server inside ai/sandbox/wsgi_app.py. The /exec-py route accepts base_64 encoded raw string payloads inside the code parameter natively evalua
Mesop: Path Traversal utilizing `FileStateSessionBackend` leads to Application Denial of Service and File Write/Deletion
Mesop is a Python-based UI framework that allows users to build web applications. Versions 1.2.2 and below contain a Path Traversal vulnerability that allows any user supplying an untrusted state_token through the UI stream payload to arbitrarily target files on the disk under the standard file-based runtime backend. This can result in application denial of service (via crash loops when reading non-msgpack target files as configurations), or arbitrary file manipulation. This vulnerability heavily exposes systems hosted utilizing FileStateSessionBackend. Unauthorized malicious actors could interact with arbitrary payloads overwriting or explic
Mesop Class Pollution vulnerability leads to DoS and Jailbreak attacks
Mesop is a Python-based UI framework that allows users to build web applications. A class pollution vulnerability in Mesop prior to version 0.14.1 allows attackers to overwrite global variables and class attributes in certain Mesop modules during runtime. This vulnerability could directly lead to a denial of service (DoS) attack against the server. Additionally, it could also result in other severe consequences given the application's implementation, such as identity confusion, where an attacker could impersonate an assistant or system role within conversations. This impersonation could potentially enable jailbreak attacks when interacting wi
Local file Inclusion via static file serving functionality in Mesop
Mesop is a Python-based UI framework designed for rapid web apps development. A vulnerability has been discovered and fixed in Mesop that could potentially allow unauthorized access to files on the server hosting the Mesop application. The vulnerability was related to insufficient input validation in a specific endpoint. This could have allowed an attacker to access files not intended to be served. Users are strongly advised to update to the latest version of Mesop immediately. The latest version includes a fix for this vulnerability. At time of publication 0.12.4 is the most recently available version of Mesop.
